Archetypes- Activity

Over thousands of years of human history, we can see that there are archetypes, or universal patterns in literature (story telling). Some of those patterns include:
Characters: The hero, star-crossed lovers, the fool, the outcast, etc.

Situations: the quest, initiation, loss of innocence (coming of age), passage of seasons, utopia, duty, rebirth, new beginnings, revenge, nature themes, search for self

With a partner, choose a universal theme or archetypal pattern, and create a list of works of literature, movies, television programs, songs, videos, comics, magazines, illustrations, and advertisements that make use of that chosen theme or pattern.

Create a multimedia showing the enduring presence and impact of this universal theme or archetypal pattern in society. Use text, sound, illustrations, photos, video clips and create an ENTERTAINING and INFORMATIVE presentation.

Each person in the group must create a specific part of the presentation media, whether it’s a PowerPoint, Prezi, a poster, video, etc.  See http://cooltoolsforschools.wikispaces.com/  for good tools for school presentations.
Presentation should be at least 10 min. long and engage the audience.
